Dr. Leslie Hammer
Leslie Hammer, Ph.D. is an occupational health psychologist with over 30 years of experience consulting and researching workplace mental wellbeing in a variety of industries including the military, academia, high tech, healthcare, construction, and grocery, to name a few. Hammer is Director of the Oregon Healthy Workforce Center, a Total Worker Health® center of excellence. She is also Associate Director for Applied Research in the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences, Oregon Health & Science University. She is a leading international expert on promoting and protecting workplace mental wellbeing, safety, social connectedness at work, resilience, and the prevention of occupational stress. She has extensive experience designing, implementing, and evaluating worksite wellbeing programs and evidence-based trainings for leaders, managers and supervisors that increase resilience, engagement, health and wellbeing that impact organizational outcomes such as turnover, productivity and absenteeism. She has received approximately $30M in grants from the NIH, CDC, and DoD, and has published over 150 peer-reviewed research articles and chapters. Her research has been cited in outlets such as Newsweek, Mashable, HR Brew, Safey+Health, and HealthCentral, and last year she was a speaker at the inaugural Fortune Workplace Innovation Summit 2025. She is the author of Working Couples Caring for Children and Aging Parents: Effects on Work and Well-Being (2008).
