Tammy D. Allen, Ph.D., is a Distinguished University Professor of Psychology at the University of South Florida and one of the world’s leading experts on the intersection of work and life. Ranked among the top 1% of most-cited scientists globally, her research examines issues that shape the daily lives of working adults including remote and hybrid work, work-family balance, employee health and well-being, and career development.
Dr. Allen’s work helps inform evidence-based practices that support employee well-being. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and other major agencies.
A recognized leader in her field, Dr. Allen has served as President of both the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the Society for Occupational Health Psychology. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Psychological Science (APS), the Academy of Management, and SIOP. She has served on the APA Board of Scientific Affairs and Council of Representatives, the SIOP Executive Board, and the Work Family Research Network Executive Board.
Dr. Allen has authored or co-edited four books and published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles. Her contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2025 SIOP Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award, the Herbert Heneman Jr. Award for Career Achievement from the Academy of Management’s Human Resources Division, and the Ellen Galinsky Generative Researcher Award from the Work Family Research Network.
